Private lessons:

Private instruction is the foundation of successful piano training. The piano faculty are experienced performers and teachers that have been trained and educated by some of the best mentors in the world. At H&S, students have the opportunity to CHOOSE the kind of lessons they want! H&S offers 3 different tracks for students.

Recreational Track:

Recreational lessons are just that, for FUN! Students on this track have no requirements on practice time or extracurricular involvement. This is the perfect track for most adult students, and students who are interested in piano playing, but not necessarily classical training. Teachers can help students with movie music, popular music of the day, composition, etc., all at the pace of the student and their family. Recitals, masterclasses, and all the things that set H&S apart are still available for these students, but there is no pressure to participate.

Traditional Track:

Traditional track is what the majority of students would be considered. These are students who would like to learn all aspects of musical training as taught by a traditional classical education, including theory. Students on this track will plan with their teacher how much to practice each week, and these students will be expected to participate in a minimum of 1 H&S recital, 1 outside event, and 1 masterclass each school year. These students may decide to participate in other outside events such as festivals and competitions, but it is not mandatory.

Conservatory Track

These students are the cream of the crop. They are serious about their musical education, and they are interested in pursuing music in college. These students have 1 hour lessons each week, and practice 6-7 days a week. They participate in a minimum of 2 H&S recitals , 1 outside event, and 2 Masterclasses each school year. These students are routinely showcased and recognized at recitals, they are asked to represent the school at events, and as scholarship money becomes available, they are the students who will be considered for scholarship funds. Teachers help these students with letters of recommendation, trial lessons at universities, auditions, and competitions etc. An extra $25/month fee applies to these students due to the intensive nature of the lessons througout the semester.

Mr. Yuriy in a lesson with his student, Addison M!

“My children have worked with Dr. Hunter for nearly 6 years. She is the complete package. I cannot say enough good about her. Not only is she incredibly skilled and has the knowledge and ability to turn a mediocre pianist into one that’ll blow your socks off (if he or she is willing to put the time in) but her passion...her ability to connect with and inspire her students to gain their own passion for music is unmatched. She has impacted our entire family, not only because of her incredible musical abilities, but because of who she is. I cannot highly enough recommend her and this wonderful school of music and the musicians she has carefully chosen to help her spread the gift of music to more than she is able to reach on her own.”
