Jerilynn Miklich
Jerilynn Miklich started life as a lover of music and grew up listening to, singing along with, and dancing to any song she heard. She has lived in a variety of places and has enjoyed making music with groups all around the country. Recently, Miklich got married and settled down in Mesa, where she lives with her wonderful husband.
Miklich started her journey with the piano at age 8 with her mother as her teacher. When she was 11, she began taking lessons in earnest from Glennis Miller, who helped establish a respect and love for classical music. Throughout her Middle School and High School years, she started playing in competitions and won several music scholarships.
Miklich has had the opportunity to learn from many wonderful teachers. She studied with Dr. Lucy Tan and Dr Chi-Kit Lamb in the Panhandle of Oklahoma as she finished High School, and then moved to Arizona and learned from the incredible Autum Hunt at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Miklich completed her Associates in Music Education there in 2020. She went on to pursue a bachelors in both vocal and piano performance at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and was blessed to be mentored by Dr. Eduardo Moreira.
As an avid singer, Miklich also loves choral music and enjoys collaborating with choirs and singers whenever she can. At age 13, she played with a regional Junior High Honor Choir and has been accompanying ever since. Her favorite choir teacher to work with is her dad, Dr. Marlen Dee Wilkins, who has provided ample opportunities for her to work with choirs of all levels.
Miklich has been teaching piano for the last 5 years, and loves working with students of all ages. She is excited to be at Hammer and Strings Conservatory, both to teach and to continue learning from all the wonderful people and musicians there.
