Hammer & Strings Conservatory (“H&S”, “we”, “us”) runs this website at hammerandstrings.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it. Questions go to admin@hammerandstrings.com.

What we collect

We collect information you give us directly. On this website, that is the application and inquiry form, which asks for:

• Parent or guardian name, email address, and phone number
• Student name, date of birth, and grade or school situation
• Instrument, preferred lesson length, requested teacher, and musical background
• How you heard about us, and a referral name if you were referred
• Your intended payment type

We do not ask for payment card numbers, bank details, or government identification anywhere on this website.

How we use it

We use what you send to contact you about lessons, schedule your interview, place a student with a teacher, and run the school. When you submit the form, a copy of your answers is emailed to our front office and a copy is emailed to you. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number, we may send you lesson reminders, schedule changes, and account notices. The full terms, including how to opt in and how to stop, are on our SMS policy.

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help, or email admin@hammerandstrings.com.

Services we use

Running the school means a few outside services necessarily handle some of your information:

• Opus 1 is our student management platform. Enrolled families have accounts there for scheduling, billing, messaging, and materials. Your information is used there to administer your account.
• Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
• Our email provider delivers the messages we send you.
• A public code library (cdnjs) serves an animation script used for page transitions. Loading it necessarily discloses your IP address to that service, the same as any image or file the page loads.

What we do not do

As of the date above, this website runs no analytics package, no advertising pixels, and no third-party marketing or behavioral tracking. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. If you log in to the site as a staff member, WordPress sets cookies necessary to keep you logged in. Opus 1 sets its own cookies when you use it, governed by its own policy.

Students and children

Most of our students are minors, and the information about them reaches us from a parent or guardian. We use it only to run lessons and communicate with your family. If you are a parent or guardian and want to see, correct, or delete what we hold about your student, email admin@hammerandstrings.com.

Photos, video, and recordings

Photos, video, and audio of lessons and performances may be used by H&S to highlight student accomplishments and for promotional and educational purposes, with identifying information limited to a student’s first name and last initial. Families who want a student excluded from published media may say so in writing to the front office. The full terms are in your studio policy on the Current Students page.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry and enrollment records for as long as needed to run the school and meet our record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Your choices

• Ask what we hold about you or your student, and ask for a copy
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
• Ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it
• Stop text messages by replying STOP, and ask to be removed from email
