Pianist Shih-Ping Wang, of Hualien, Taiwan, began piano studies at the age of five under the tutelage of Li-Zhen Hong. A graduate of the National Taichung University, Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, studying under Hui-Hua Liou, with minors in flute performance (with I-Che Lee) and composition (with Wan-Jen Huang). Ms. Wang has participated in master classes with the likes of Meng-Chieh Liu and Jerry Wong, and has received awards from celebrated competitions such as the National Taichung University's Concerto Competition, for which she played Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.1 at 3rd prize, the National Music Contest of Taiwan, winning both solo and chamber music categories.
During her time at university, Ms. Wang concertized throughout her native Taiwan and played for the premieres of her piano trio and duet for clarinet and piano. While accomplishing her Master's degree in piano performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, she performed recitals, both solo and chamber, in Europe and Asia, and studied under the internationally acclaimed Margarita Shevchenko. In addition to her solo repertoire, Ms. Wang is also an avid chamber musician and sought-after collaborator, having previously been employed by Utah Valley University as a staff pianist, and performing with students at Brigham Young University and Utah State University. She currently resides in Mesa, Arizona with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
