Dr. Karali Hunter - Dean and Founder, Piano Department Head

Award-winning pianist and pedagogue Dr. Karali Hunter has been teaching promising young musicians for over 15 years. Dr. Hunter made her Carnegie Hall debut performance in 2011 after winning first prize in the American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition. Hunter is a founding artist in the group Salonnières, a group that specializes in intimate salon style concerts based in the Phoenix metro. Shih-Ping Wang - Substitute piano

Pianist Shih-Ping Wang of Hualien, Taiwan, began piano studies at the age of five under the tutelage of Li-Zhen Hong. A graduate of the National Taichung University, Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, studying under Hui-Hua Liou, with minors in flute performance (with I-Che Lee) and composition (with Wan-Jen Huang). Meet the head of the Strings Department, Melodie Gardner. Ms. Gardner holds a degree in Violin Performance from the University of Utah. She is a masterclass, technique and group teacher at the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute, and her private students have won multiple awards, including the Phoenix Youth Orchestra competition winner, and 1st place in the Simon-Fizet Junior Strings Competition. Soprano Jamie Kay Alston has distinguished herself as a concert performer of the classical repertoire, particularly sacred and American music. Alston has performed leading roles across the country, including  Lucy in Menotti’s two person opera The Telephone, Laurey in Oklahoma!, and Sarah in The Forgotten Carols.
